2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

An Action Plan adopted in 2015 by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly for people, planet and prosperity, and also with the aim of strengthening universal peace and access to justice.

Upon its approval, UN Member States acknowledged that the greatest challenge in today's world is to end poverty, asserting that, without its eradication, there cannot be sustainable development. The Agenda, therefore, must govern worldwide development programmes until 2030.

This entails common and universal commitment, with States committing to mobilising the means necessary for its implementation through alliances that focus, first and foremost, on the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable people.

Nevertheless, given that each State faces specific challenges in their search for sustainable development, they exercise full sovereignty over their wealth, resources and economic activity and, therefore, must set their own national goals inside the framework of the Agenda.

Spain has a specific Action Plan for its implementation.
