Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
This is the priority objective related to health, although there are others similarly linked. It is made up of 13 Targets and 27 indicators.
There are certain problems in dealing with the coherence of SDG 3 and with disparate targets that include health care strategies, the fight against diseases and the management of health care systems, which also influence and overlap each other.
The World Health Organisation has focused on Target 3.8, and achieving universal health care, which helps to improve this coherence issue. That said, in the United Nations report on the progress of the 2020 SDGs, SDG 3 appears as one of the goals which, despite the advances made in recent years, still has a long way to go.
